86: Beneath the Surface

“…you can stare right at something and not see what lies beneath the surface.”

Jodi Picoult

This is possibly our final contest, hopefully not, but here is why.

The December 2020 contest is to produce a sculpture which creates the illusion that more lies beneath the surface. Swimmers, zombie hands, sea monsters, mammoths in tarpits, use your imagination. There is no limit to the number of magnets you may use, but Zen Magnets only for this contest.

Summary of Requirements:

  • Construction must appear to be partially submerged
  • Zen Magnets only
  • No limit to number of magnets used
  • 1 submission per person
  • No collages/grids
  • No photo manipulation beyond basic color correction and exposure.
  • Deadline Dec 31, 2020

Everything you submit goes into the public domain. Of course, the first and most important requirement is that you have fun! As usual, the judges will be your peers. Pay attention to resolution, focus, lighting and framing. Sharp, high resolution pictures are preferred. There will be at least FIVE winners, possibly more depending on participation. There will be $300 in prizes to be distributed among the winners- prizes can be redeemed at zenmagnets.com or neoballs.com.
