70: Perspective Framing

Posted on Aug 6, 2019 by in Magnet Limit, No Limit

The contest for August 2019 is to photograph a sculpture through another separate sculpture. You will need to create at least 2 separate builds, one in the foreground framing the sculpture in the background. No limit on the number of magnets or brand, but must be 5mm spheres.

This should be a fun exercise in perspective and depth of field, so be sure to mess with your aperture settings and focus. No post processing allowed aside from color balance and levels. That means no artificial blurring and no photoshopped backgrounds.

  • Any brand of 5mm magnet spheres allowed
  • No limit on magnet count
  • Must photograph 1 sculpture framed through a 2nd sculpture
  • 1 submission per person
  • No collages or photo-manipulation beyond basic color levels and contrast
  • Deadline: 8/31/2019

As usual, the judges will be your peers. Pay attention to resolution, focus, lighting, and obviously framing because that’s part of the title. Avoid your bright reflective flash, and opt for a self timer and a tripod (or stand.) Sharp, high resolution pictures are preferred. $300 in prizes is up for grabs and distribution will depend on participation. There will be at least five winners. Prizes will be announced with judging. Everything you submit goes into the public domain. Submission deadline is the last day of August 2019.

But the first and foremost requirement, is that you have fun!
